Well, the guys from McHitch finished up the installation of the hitch for my 2009 Voyager on Sunday, and it turned out great. Very strong, very little is visible, nice gloss black powder coat finish, . . . . . . . . So now, I have a new bike, a new hitch, a new trailer, and can't get out of the darn driveway. Just my luck. Oh well, at least I'm ready for Spring when it comes.

Ok Turbo4x4, how about some pictures. I don't have a new Voyager but would love to see pics of the setup (I'm sure others who do would also).

Very strong, very little is visible, nice gloss black powder coat finish, and if you ever want to take it off for some reason, removal will only take about 10 minutes. They did a complete review of the installation procedure, including pictures of each step, for those of us who need the extra reassurance. The best part is that there are no clearance issues whatsoever. You can even oversize your rear tire without fear of it rubbing on the hitch. Overall, a well thought out design.

What kind of trailer are you pulling? (just curious)

Scott,

Ask, and ye shall recieve ! Below are links to the photos of the trailer hitch installed by the Dick and Todd of McHitch this past Sunday. You will also see one of their 3 bearing swivel adapters installed behind the tongue of the trailer. Another poster asked what trailer I'm using, and that would be from Harbor Freight. The only changes I made to the trailer was to install LED lighting instead of what came with the trailer, and add the McHitch swivel adapter to the tongue. Can't wait to see how it all works on the road. Hope everything works with the pictures. This is the first time I've posted pictures.

Turbo, use the img tag when posting pics, and they will show up in the post instead of having to click on each one-if 640 x 480 or smaller-- Forum Admin

For those of you interested, I have just posted the installation procedure instructions, complete with pictures, on the AVA members only forum. It is apparently the only place a PDF file can be uploaded. Hope this helps.

Blacksanction,

If I understand your question correctly, no, this was the first of the final production version. Yeah, I'm very happy the way it turned out. I was a little apprehensive at first about using my new baby for the design stage, particularly when they started taking it apart, but the guys from McHitch were very professional, and not a scratch was put on it. Now, if I can just keep all four wheels on the ground :gig:

Hopper59,

They will be selling for $205.99, and $14.99 for shipping anywhere in the U.S., according to McHitch.

Good price for the McHitch, compared with the info that I received from HitchDoc. They want $322 for theirs, but I like the looks of it better. It is a receiver hitch and is not very noticeable. Trying to upload pictures for the first time... Hope it works.

Gilles,

Yup, it's hidden away very nicely. It looks like everything is inside the rear fender, so is there any concerns over interference with the tire, particularly if you go bigger? I guess like everything else, it's going to come down to how much each aspect of what you want to buy is worth to you. I had this conversation a while back on this same forum with another member, and it basically came down to the fact that there's no perfect bike, and you can get some bling on some bikes but not on others. It simply comes down to how much you're willing to pay for the level of bling that you want. It does look very nice, however. How long did the install take?

The hitch is not installed yet. These are pictures that I received in an email from HitchDoc. I'm not even sure if they have started production yet. It is not on their web site. Anyway, my bike is in storage until the end of winter (end of March if I'm lucky). I like this hitch better than others that I have seen because it seems to be well designed, and HitchDoc has been around for some time.
