Mirror Backing

Post by Van Voyager »

I read in the tips section that the mirrors can crack if they get really cold. Mine aren't cracked but the mirroring seems to be coming off the back (or is that what they meant by 'cracked'?). Has anyone had their mirrors re-silvered (not sure that's the right term). Are the mirrors actually glass or plastic?

Van if you gently remove the mirror from the plastic housing, it can be done but be gentle when prying them apart. You can take the mirror down to any glass business and they can for pennies cut you another mirror to put in it's place. I did this the when I got my Voyager and the mirror in the trunk was broken. I think it cost me like $3. Then use the RTV black silicone to glue the pieces back together. Use rubber bands to hold the pieces back together till dry.
