What's unde the ECU?

Post by Van Voyager »

Can anyone post a picture of, or describe what's under the ECU. On mine a PO has inserted a plastic (like a thin cutting board) shield between the bottom of the ECU and the top of the battery (to prevent something from shorting against the battery terminal ???). Is there supposed to be a tray or something else there?

That is exactly what it is for .Keeps the ECU from hitting the battery

Thanks for your note MA.

Is is supposed to look like piece of loose cardboard (albeit made of plastic)? The one I have seems to have a 'homemade' quality about it and isn't attached to anything.

I'll be getting it out for the spring in another 6 weeks or so; will try to post a picture then.

Originally there is nothing in between but as the rubber holders deteriorate many have put something between to keep the battery and ECU from hitting each other
I have an oversized battery and put a thin piece of Styrofoam in between

Thanks. That make sense. My rubber isolators had completely deteriorated and were held together (what was left of them) with duct tape. I was pleasantly surprised to find they're still avaible from Kawasaki so I ordered a set. I may yet regret that as it was a lot harder to get the ECU 'installed' with the new rubbers than with the old set.
