INTAKE MANIFOLD

Post by ohiojack »

Has anyone had problems with vacuum leak at the intake manifold? I've seen some indications other people have had to pull intake apart at heads and where throttle body bolts together because of vacuumleak. My last ride this last Saturday I had a high pitch whistle while riding along at 75 mph, interstate speeds. We pulled off for a while and it stopped until we got up to full operating temp on the road again. ohiojack

... what could be in the motor that would do that and not be RPM related?
At least you'd think the sound would change as the motor does....

Gene, good to hear from you again. Kathy and I are both working that weekend. We're going to have to meet up somewhere with Tony and Loren going too. That would be fun. The riding season is starting to wind down tho. Do you have any ideas??? ohiojack

Next time it happens Jack, open the gas cap. Mine squealed like that 'cause the vent tube was pinched!

Couple of years ago on a ride, I thought sure I had a connecting rod bearing go south, it sounded exactly like a bad con rod bearing, but turned out to be a missing screw in the derby cover, when I would accelerate, the cover would bang against the cylinder head, sounded just like a bad bearing! Remember that Don?
