I would also consider the Dunlop E3's and the Michelin commander II.
I heard nothing but good about the Michelin so I am going to try one on the front in the next week or so.

I just installed Michelin Commander II's on a friends Yamaha VStar 1300 Tourer. They are nice tires, but the rear was a bugger to remove old before installing new, harder than doing the XII's back. He went with the next up equivalent size in Commander II for the rear, since factory size is not available. VStar has a 16 inch rim and is wider than the XII.
After that experience, I'm ready to install car tires. :gig:

Now that I've gone to the Darkside, I'll probably get about 3 fronts to one rear. :hpdc:

Let me just add that it depends on the condition and age of the other tire. If it is over two years old and the tread life is close to the end (say less then 20%), I will replace both. On my bike, the '03 XII, that has been the case for the last 3 changes. My wife's Vn800a, we replaced the front tire because of cracking with a Metzler, then 5 months later replaced the rear with a Michelin Commander II. When the Metzler wore out last year we replaced it with another Avon Cobra (i liked the review on rain response with good life still).
On the Voyager, I took off the stock Dunlops at about 16k and ran Dunlop E3s till 64k where I replaced both with Avon Cobras. I really like how these tires are handling and "feeling" for the 300 miles they have been on.
Thanks for listenin,
Ken
