Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a way of viewing the photos without having to pay $29 to get a DVD? All I want to do is view the pictures, but there doesn't appear to be an easy way of doing that.

Click on the link and give it a few moments to load. It's there free of charge to view, just takes a little while with some Internet providers. Over 17 minutes of images and nice music also!!!

You do not have to pay anything. Depending on your internet speed it should load in about 30 sec.

I prefer Joeseppi's, but a burger with friends would be fine, too. The schedule looks like it will have to be later in the fall.

I'm getting to take an unexpected ride in two weeks. I'll be going to Canon City, CO for most of a week and then back out near Chalma, NM, in September. The Chalma ride will have the opportunity to be a little cool, though. :hmm:

Baaahhhhh!!! I want to go Bruce! I had one all planned out, but couldn't do it this year. Sooo... I postponed it a year. But No! AVA is having their Rally in Arkansas. Soooo.... I guess I get to postpone it yet another year! The rate things are going now, it'll be 2020 before I get to Colorado!

You guys tell me when and where, by gosh, I'll do my darndest to get there.

P.S. I forgot to add in there, I'll also be heading out to Ft. Campbell, KY to visit my Son, his Wife and grand-daughter. PLUS, he "supposed" to show me how to fish at a tournement. I figure he's got high explosives stashed away somewhere.

JD, if it makes you feel any better, it's a working vacation. I do hope to steal enough time to at least go to the Royal Gorge. We'll just have to see.

I'm betting your son has an electric generator hidden under one of the lids of his boat--explosives are too loud and bring unwanted attention. :gig:

If either of you are in the mood, I'm leading my church group's monthly ride which will probably be the last Saturday of this month. There is a really great (at least it was when we went there in 2006) german restaraunt in Waynoka. We plan to leave Enid around 4:30 in the afternoon so we will be able to be back to Enid by dusk.

Be warned! The Gorge is a tourist trap! However, if you haven't been there, it's pretty slick. I have relatives that live in Canon City and I have been there several times over the years. Lots of good riding in the area.

I won't bet against a generator of some sort, but since he's in the Army, well... they have a love for things that go *BOOM!*.

I'll take a look at your ride at the end of the month. Let me know more as it gets closer!

I totally forgot about Skyline Drive! I have to agree with Lori, awesome drive. About 5 miles long takes you across the hogbacks on the west side of Canon City. If you can, run it towards sunset. The views are indeed, spectacular! Going further, US 50 going west into the mountains along the Arkansas River is gorgeous. Just pray you don't get there during the mayfly hatch! The Arkansas River there is a whole different river than what we see out here on the plains. It's clear!

If you don't mind a few miles of gravel (well maintained) there Phantom Canyon Road east of Canon City. This is the old rail grade from Cripple Creek/Victor to Canon City. Another route, though a little tougher is Shelf Ridge Road. This was the old Stage Coach route from Canon to Cripple Creek. Narrow gravel roads reasonably maintained, but you may have to give way to other traffic as some of it isn't wide enough for two vehicles. Add to that, a 900 foot drop to the creek below, and you could be leaving a few bite marks on your seat.

We stopped at Royal Gorge last year on the way to the Santa Fe rally. A park ranger there - seeing that we were on motorcycles - recommended that we also drive Colorado's "Skyline Drive." I can't tell you how to get there but it is worth finding!

When the earth's tectonic plates shifted, a huge ridge was formed. If you are relaxed enough to look away from the road, you can see dinosaur footprints on the underside of some of these formations. Google it BEFORE you go, so you know what I'm talking about.

Personally, I didn't see the footprints. I was too busy watching the road and the beautiful views! The road is a one-way strip of pavement about as wide as a parking space. There are sheer drop-offs on either side of you (and we now know that Colorado doesn't believe in guardrails!) The two switch-backs that must be navigated to get off the ridge are a hoot! I'm not a big fan of tight manuevers. In this case it was literally a "do or die" situation that literally made my heart skip a few beats. What a RUSH!
