Embeding Videos now possible....

Post by debron »

Thanks to a request from Tat2demon, I revisited the possibility of being able to embed YouTube videos in forum posts. I found a way to do it. This is an experiment. If it works, we'll keep it, if there are problems - too many videos, inappropriate videos, bandwidth or website performance issues, I will discontinue it. In the meantime enjoy (if it works!)

When posting a new topic or replying to a post, click on the "youtube" button up there with the other buttons and paste the URL address between the youtube tags, similar to posting photos.

Note that you are posting the web address of the video that you copy from your address bar, not the "embed" code that YouTube provides. Your coding should look something like this:

Code: Select all

Resulting in something like:

I found ONE way that will work with videos from over 30 different services, including YouTube, Vimeo, and Facebook, but not for Roxio (photoshow.com.) Use the "video" button the same as the YouTube button. Note: either works for YouTube videos.

The coding will look like this:

Code: Select all

Give it a try phil12 (hint, hint.) Here is one of Phil's videos from Vimeo:

Through some trial and error experimenting I figured out how to embed Roxio shows from photoshow.com. Click on the "Roxio" button and insert the show code between the tags. Note that this is not the full URL (web address) of your show, but only the show code which consists of the letters/numbers after the "/watch/." Not the most intuitive but it works.

For example, in this URL "http://www.photoshow.com/watch/Ku7kR9Ct" the show code is Ku7kR9Ct. Your code will look like this:

Code: Select all

[Roxio]Ku7kR9Ct[/Roxio]

Resulting in:

Note that these buttons present the videos in a predetermined fixed height and width format. If the aspect ratio of your video is different, your video may appear squashed or stretched in one direction or another. Sorry!
