Need Info on the 1885 Honda Goldwing with FI

Post by Mr Jensee »

I need some help from anyone out there who knows anything about the Special Edition 1985 Honda Goldwing with Fuel Injection. Specifically I need to know if the fuel shut off valve is a vacuum operated valve or just a manual bypass. Information is scarce on this bike and I have a friend who is trying to stop gas from leaking into the cylinders when it is not running. Please anyone with any experience on this rare bike would greatly help. My cell phone number is posted in my personal info. Or you can just reply here. Thanks guys and gals.

It was 85 or 86 they produced one model with EFI. Apparently it was so much trouble it never made it for a second year. Apparently the injectors leaked gas into the intake manifold (which is what is happening now) and getting into the oil. I was looking to see if anyone had any knowledge of this and the fix. My thought was to add a petcock to turn it off when not running.

I miss that fuel shutoff valve on motorcycles. I guess with FI, there is a fuel pump in the gas tank, so there's no way to shut off the gas.

Hank the bike is equipped with a bypass valve that LOOKED like a fuel shut off valve on the right side below the fuel tank side cover. The service manual doesn't say much about it but I recommended my friend find an inline petcock and install it in a good location for access and that may help. I would dread opening those fuel injectors for fear one would get broken and getting it replaced is next to impossible.
