Need help on CB900

Post by cushman eagle »

A friend of mine just dropped his son's 1980 CB900 off for me to reseal the forks.I have the bolts out of the bottom, the forks on the workbench and the snaprings out of the top,but there is a sharp stop when I try to separate the top from the bottom.I have ordered a manual ,but I do not have it yet. What do I need to do to get them apart? :bat: :hmm: :thk:

I'm not seeing anything unusual here that might be holding you up. Hope this at least helps.

Check this video, start at the 9 minute mark. The Honda 900 should come apart the same way.https://youtu.be/0TCYIEcDcts

Thank you Tony, and Mr Jensee for your replies. As can be seen from the view Tony sent, and I found on bike bandit, and the you tube video shows,it appears that to separate the fork, you slide hammer the top out of the bottom, useing the bottom bushing to hammer the top bushing out.I got one to start moving this evening, but the impact on the vise in my garage started moving my workbench. So when I get time, I will have to take them to our farm equipment repair shop.

I got the forks done   .It makes a difference when you take them to a shop with a heavy vice bolted to a heavy work bench with a torch with a rosebud tip on it to heat it to 500 degrees. One slidehammer jolt and they come right apart. :perfect10: :oh:

I just tried it. It does work. If you are using a non edge browser make sure you update your Java Script. Edge doesn't use it. Try accessing it from Mozilla.
