Cruise control minor problem

Post by papajoe »

My cruise control was not working. It turned out to be the cruise control cancel switch located on the frame under the rear brake pedal. Loved the diagnostics in the service manual made it very easy to isolate it to either the front or rear brake. It turns out that under the rear brake pedal is an adjustable actuator for the cruise control cancel switch. I recently had the bike up on a stand to clean the rear wheel and tire. My stand is a homemade one I used for my previous bike. I put pipe insulation foam on the the cross bars to prevent the stand from scratching the frame. The foam must have been able to press up into the actuator causing it to bend slightly. It was an easy fix however if you using a stand be careful of the switch actuator on the frame under the rear brake.
