They just might accept your offer.
Just picked up a "like new" '09 1700 Nomad for trade in value. The kicker is that trade in value allows for 11,000 miles and the bike only had 1775 miles on it.
This might be the bike I ride to Kanab next summer.

I'm eager to see a picture next to the 1700 Voyager; the will look like big brother/little brother together. How much did you get it for?

They are the same frame, seats, board position, but different handlebars so it does feel a lot different than the Voyager. Under $8K for a bike that MSRP'd for $14,700 when new. Of course it is "like new".biggersm wrote:I'm eager to see a picture next to the 1700 Voyager; the will look like big brother/little brother together. How much did you get it for?
I think I like the Voyager handlebar position better but I will give it some time before I go looking to change bars.

I only carry liability and comprehensive. If I wreck due to a fault of my own then I learn an expensive lesson. I do have full coverage on the Voyager though.metric wrote:Nice ride David... how can you afford insurance for all your bikes...just for the VoyagerXII I pay $400 a year...
Mike
The Nomad is $56 a year. Full coverage on it would be $160. Total insurance bill for this year is under $600.
...and that's with 100k/300k and $250 deductable.

Dang, I wish I lived out in the country. 2002 Voyager is $480.00 per year. That because I increased the deductable to $1,000.00.
Metric, this is the price we pay for living near large cities.

Re: Don't make "best offers" on ebay unless you are ready to buy
Well, just had to chime in on the insurance amounts. Since I sell it for a living. And on that note, I pay the
same as everyone else. My Voyager is $238 per year full coverage with $250 deductibles. So if you need
great coverage for great price call me. I can write in Missouri, Illinios and Tennessee. Gary Baker 314 303-9551. Thanks

Currently pay $260 for full coverage on the 2009 VV 1700. Living in the country in Southern Illinois is nice for insurance. Low deductable too.

Re: Don't make "best offers" on ebay unless you are ready to buy
Just pulled my bill and my policy is thru Progressive. I've had the policy for over 5 years and they have a diminishing deductible. {The wording on the policy reads: Disappearing Deductibles; with every claim free policy period we lower your comprehensive and collision deductible by 25% until they reach $0}
So Full Coverage for my 2001 Kaw ZG1200-B for 12 months and a ZERO $ deductible cost me $171 (after a $14 discount if paid in full). When I took the policy out I had a $500 deductible and Not full coverage but after 4 years that has dropped to 0/nada/zilch/squat!

Your deductible would still be around $100 after 5 years ,but ,That's still pretty inexpensive depending on how NOT full coverage you are .Scott-(Altoona, PA) wrote:Just pulled my bill and my policy is thru Progressive. I guess that depends on whether they calculate the 25% off the original amount or the remaining amount.Me Again wrote: Your deductible would still be around $100 after 5 years ,but ,That's still pretty inexpensive depending on how NOT full coverage you are .

Re: Don't make "best offers" on ebay unless you are ready to buy
Not sure when they start the calculation but from what she told me right now it's zero dollars. Also the policy started out as comprehensive but is now Full Coverage with towing (even though I have ROC) and $3,000 for accessories. Oh by the way, my agent is a riding friend of ours also so she knows all to well the hidden expenses of accessories (she's has multiple bikes {Kaw, H-D, & Big Dog custom}).David (N. Re: Don't make "best offers" on ebay unless you are ready to buy
I guess I need to 'unsubscribe' to this thread since it went off track.
BTW: Just sold the '09 Nomad to a good friend of mine. I liked the looks of the bike and the ride, but I could not get used to the speedo being down on the fuel tank. I guess you can't wear a FF helmet and ride that style of bike. He got a great bike and I got every penny back in my pocket plus interest so I had more fun than letting the money sit in the bank.

Re: Don't make "best offers" on ebay unless you are ready to buy
David,
You made a "best offer" bid in late October and in late April you sold the very same bike. I sure hope you took it easy on your friend and at the same time didn't take a loss.
Up north that isn't enough time to even get used to a bike due to snow but where you are you've had much more ridding weather than I have so I can't fault you there.
Shame though, it was a nice looking ride. I just don't like the exhaust that open to me! Rode my son-in-laws Nomad and bumped the pipes, didn't burn bad but reminded me that there was another reason why I Love My Voyager!!!!!

I bought it knowing that my friend wanted that exact bike. I kept taunting him with it. The price kept going up because I kept adding stuff to it.Scott-(Altoona, PA) wrote:David,

The bike is beautiful so no I get to LOOK at it when we ride together instead of just looking at it while it is parked.
I'm looking at Concours 1400s now, but you know when you start looking a bargain on a different bike might just cross your path.
