La Pine, Fort Rock, etc. Oregon ride

Post by grumpin »

Hello. Rode with a friend to his cabin in La Pine Oregon. After some steaks, fellowship and watching It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World again. (Hilarious!) We had a good nights sleep and headed a little south to Hwy. 31 and down to the Fort Rock State Natural Area. Then east out of Fort Rock, then south and east again to Christmas Valley for lunch and fuel. We rode south out of Christmas Valley back to Hwy. 31 towards Lakeview with a stop at the Summer Lake rest area. On to Lakeview, more fuel and west on 140 to our home of Klamath Falls. Beautiful day, great ride. No problems finding fuel, but we filled where there was a station, usually taking only a gallon or two. Eastern Oregon's high desert is some beautiful scenery.

 ....was checking out Oregon on the www. ...looks like a great place to ride motorcycles! but MAN , that's a long way from here , I'm still working on wife Pam for making the long ride to CO. in june of 2015. I am eagerly waiting for lodging info. because that could tip the scales to a thumbs up , or have I missed something, and a AVA hotel has already been chosen ?

It was announced at the Asheville rally and if I remember correctly it was slightly more than than the $108 per night that we paid there.

What's this "long ride" business?? It's only 1200 miles from Toledo to Estes Park! You can make that in two days, three if you loaf! Oregon to Asheville is 2700 miles, direct route, though I managed to make it 2000 miles longer! That's what Voyagers were made for!!

Put $100 cash in your sock drawer each month and you'd have your hotel and gas covered! Or sell one of your many surplus bikes. . . . . :gig: :gig: :gig:
