......so my 78 year ol buddy gave me a ring and asked if I wanted to go for a ride up into michigan and attend the fall gathering at the DUX m/c club, and was to pick a older bike from my herd to ride, since that was the theme of the day.The DUX m/c club has been around here since 1949 and I had never been to there clubhouse /grounds ,so what the heck ,lets go ! I chose the "BEAST" for the day and he rode the 83' KAW 1100 shaft he got from me awhile back
( see I don't keep all these bikes )......We had the only two kawasaki's there, here is a picture of our bikes.Everyone got a kick out of the"JET FUEL ONLY" sticker, that I added to the top of the fuel tank on the BEAST

Re: DUX m/c
Pretty neat story here, this 83' wing has a 60'something' schteib' sidecar attached,it has 230k miles on it ,but the kicker is ......a 92 year old guy rolls up on it,with his 70 year old son riding in the sidecar !!
Next, this guy rolls up with this 70's HD trike 45 cu.in. just finished being restored, He said it was a parking meter kinda downtown machine, and wont go over 50 mph or so
Not hard to see where the Kawasaki Drifter came from here:
So I left the shop for a couple of hours ,but started feelin guilty about not gettin much work done....so I left, but will return to their club another time ,as they were very nice folks to be around!...........................tony

Re: DUX m/c
Overall ,I really like the BEAST kinda surprising how nimble the bike is for having such a large engine, it is well balanced in corners, maybe cause all the luggage is off. I have all of the luggage in excellent condition with stock paint stored away in the loft of one of the out buildings, but I don't think it will ever get used again. The stock suspension needs improvement,it can really ride like a truck in certain road conditions. The on-board air compressor still works normally, and I have been testing various air pressures. All said, this bike will most likely be my around town solo riding bike, and likely will not see any lengthy touring, due to lack of parts availability, and high engine rpm at highway speeds (approx.4200@ 70) I would like to do something with this ,gearing wise but not finding much out there

Re: DUX m/c
That is about 1000 rpm over the XII,no wonder people say the MPG is not all that great. She probably pulls pretty good when you crank it open in high gear at that speed
