How to appropriately accessorize a ZN1300 Voyager!

Post by trikebldr »

These pics are only mocked up to give an idea of what it will look like, but I have figured out my plan of attack for connecting it. A little cut, snip and welding and we're off! They just go together so well! Even better once the hack is color matched to the bike.
P.S.- We don't have indoor plumbing yet!

LMAO! The shop area is the door nearest the front of the bike. But, it's ceiling isn't much higher! I figured that I could remove my windshield and get full height out of my lift table with this bike.
Yes, sure am working hard to ready this bike for the rally!
Would love to find another Terraplane for my other 1300 so I could paint the whole rig flat black like yours and have that Darth Vader look! Know anybody who makes Darth Vader bike helmets?

Considering how I felt at the end of each day driving my truck up to ND (same distance as to the rally) to pick up the sidecar, I think I would want to break the rally drive into two days! I have done a few 1000 days on my old Voyager/Spyder rig when I was much younger, but No more!

It would be nice if there were a roster of members and where they are located, other than just what's listed under their name on each post. Of course, it could be a voluntary list, but I would sign up! Like now, I could look up people who are along the route and contact them to see if they want to caravan.

After seeing the first pic, I recognized it to be a Terraplane side car from Vetter. I always loved the looks of the Terraplane, Years ahead of thier time!

I sported a Veloex side car on my XS750 Yamaha for 15 years. It had it's plusses and minus's, but, don't regret the experience's.

Looks nice with your 1300!

Bill, the Velorex line of hacks are great! Which model did you have? Why did you give it up? Got pics to share?

I looked at a few V's recently. I like the way they are built and their features. Very comfortable, too! But, I just wanted one that fit the styling of the Voyager! The heck with comfort! Not really! Cindy says it feels really good to her, and she's 6ft tall! Looks like she still has about 5" to the end of the foot space! I imagine she will slump down a bit as we ride, though.

My first 1300 (years ago!) had a Motorvation Spyder sidecar on it for about 112,000 miles and I loved it! It didn't match the styling at all, but it still looked good somehow. I can't wait to get this Terraplane color-matched to the bike!

...Well all truth be told ....We are also planning to break up our trip to the rally into (2) two days :woohoo: not trying to compete with any "iron but" guys......Hey ...this is our vacation !......We are looking at a nice 335 miles on day one....and 305 miles on day two.
So far we have a pretty good group meeting at the "Super 8" in St. Ignace Mi.on U.S 2... on SAT. the 18th of June.......if anyone else reading this from the area, want's to ride into Hurley as a group....call and get your reservations there...we will be there ! kickstands up by 9:00A.M on Sunday morning.
:hpdc: ........the more ,the merrier !..Have never rode the bike west thru the U.P. of MI.....but have heard that is a very scenic ride , with little to NO traffic up there !...CAN'T WAIT !(it's never too early to formulate a plan ! ).....................Tony :-D
