Boss Hoss

Post by 823JIM »

While in Sturgis for rally in Aug. 2018 was surprised to see at the Boss Hoss display they were actually doing demo rides. I have seen these bikes and read about them for years but never thought I would get an opportunity to ride one of these beast. The one I rode had a 383 ci chevy V-8 with 450 hp and a 2 speed semi automatic transmission and are capable of 115 mph in 1st. The bike weighs just under 1200 lbs but to my surprise is really very easy to ride. The engine heat is something else and with my short legs it was hard to keep my legs away from exhaust heat shields which get very hot also. Handling is not in the crotch rocket range more like an Imperial Galactic Cruiser. When you twist the throttle the power seems to just have no end. At a price tag of $55,000 it is not in my price range.

If you ever get a chance to ride one of these don't pass it up :woohoo: .

But my question is who wants an over priced motorcycle with a car engine in it? Would you plan on towing a travel trailer with it?

More than you would think. Seen well over two dozen of these being ridden on the roads while in Sturgis/Black Hills area, only seen one XII Voyager the whole trip. :hmm:

They claim 24 mpg city, 29 mpg highway. But I highly doubt those numbers as nobody seems to leave the throttle alone.
