Throttle cable question 93 model

Post by grumpy72 »

My 93 has a broken cable. Not sure which one. I heard it run before i bought it. I dont like having 6 different threads started.thats about what i have. But after 6 answers on previous ones yall dont respond because theres no evidence of new questions.i am selling my 1300.will concentrate on this bike..y manual shows a accel and decel cable.i know the throttle is limp.like no recoil when you twist and let go .if and thats a big if i can figure out how to replace said cable is it possible to run with just one. I have read all about why there are two. Last question the tires are slick,no tread hardly.the ones on the 1300 are pretty good.will they fit the 1200? Thanks for input.this will eventually be a 700 pound screamer.

Honestly, I'm finding it difficult to help you because you keep trying to jump over a dollar to save a dime. You'll want to fix your bike right. That means not blowing off throttle cables, an obvious safety hazard.

I don't know the tire sizes off the top, but just look at what they say on their sides. Are they the same size? While there, look especially at the date codes, another obvious safety issue.

I suspect that you have a couple bikes that are basically junk. You might need to put a lot of careful work into them ... before you go screaming.

Thank you for your input. Junk is probably a good description.i am not wanting to try to eliminate cables. It makes no sense why 2 are needed. You dont have to help if you dont want to. The tires are not even close from one to the other. But i had a 750 vulcan for sale last year that needed a rear tire.3 months of dealers saying its on backorder i sold it with a slick tire for less than it was worth.when i saw the 1300 weighes 919 wet i said ok time to sell.725 or so is .y limit. My paint might suck, my upholstery might be ripped, but before i take a bike on the road carbs, tires, brakes will be perfect.whether its voyager, shadow, vstar, any brand i might happen to own.my 1200 manual is a real manual, not a cliffnote clymer. The right carb pours gass out when the bike is running. I have after much searching not found the correct rebuild kits.

Some of you remember the 75 goldwing. Perfection. It was never intended to be a touring bike.but the 2022 version is a great touring bike. Both the yamaha venture and the voyager were made as touring bikes. One idea, one perfect design, one thing in mind. Touring. They wanted to compete with the goldwing and harley electraglide. They far surpassed the harley from the first year to the current year. I started riding in 1972.ironically I am 72. I always wanted a voyager. In 50 years of riding i have seen 2 1200s on the road. I know starter chain issues plagued the earliest voyagers. I think 88 and up that was fixed. Maybe 86. I could buy a nice 90 something model in great shape for 2000 to 3000 dollars. But my 93 runs. It has 900 things disconnected and or broken and it still runs. Like a soldier thats been shot 10 times. Iove it for that.some guys name their bikes.dumb girl names. If i name mine when i am done it will be called Rocky. Yes it will be a stripped down version.not what kawasaki intended. But its my bike. My junk. And if i can ever get the carbs cleaned and throttle cables fixed i will ride my junk bike all over the place.with or without anybody's helo.

Ebay has some used stuff if you are still looking for cables...this person is selling right handle bar with throttle cables and front calipers...
(current as of this posting)
Carbs you could check with Carl Leo...
If it is worth having, it is worth taking care of...
