Anyone looking for a ZN1300

Post by samchar12 »

I think its time to part with the ZN1300, its a 1988 model with all options. I am tired of wrestling with it and want to move on. The bike is complete and everything works. I got it to run a few years ago, but haven't had any luck since then.

Any ideas on what it may be worth?

Just for ha-ha's I looked at the Kelly Blue Book value and it shows a trade-in value of $1335 and a typical listing value of $2020. Both assume good condition and mileage typical of age. Would obviously be less if it's not running.

I really love my 1300's but have to admit that they are getting to a point that I spend more time working on them than riding.
Personally I would put them on craigslist or facebook market place for $1000 and take the first offer over $500 as a non runner.

Me Again,

Respectfully, as a guy who just Really likes inline 6 engines I ask,
is keeping these 6 cylinder Kawasakis up, and running well, demanding
beyond reason?
Does a guy need to have the mindset that it's PLEASANT, to constantly
be engaged in the process of seeking parts, and continuously repairing
something?
Thank you for your considered response. :help:

If you are good about doing routine maintenance these bikes are great .
Most repairs are not difficult if you catch them early and finding parts is usually just an eBay search away .
I am very bad at routine maintenance so when it gets to a point that it becomes a chore I just start looking for a different 1300 .
I am on my 6th one in 30 years and keep the old for parts .
There are a number of these out there with 200k + that are well taken care of .
I tried an XII and although it was fun to ride I could never get comfortable . I also tried a Ghoulthing and truly hated it (loved the side car though ).
Right now I have an 88 that needs a little plastic work (fairing was loose and cracked ) and some electrical glitches (PO put in a radio and messed up ) but it runs excellent.

Welcome pwbii.
Glad to have another 1300 rider on board. I've been riding a 1300 since about '92 and am kind of partial tp them.
My current ride is an 88 but it has electrical issues and needs a little help right now.
