Speedometer Correction
Installed a speedometer gear from a 1993 Kawasaki Ninja 600R on my 87 XII and it is truly a plug and play change. I have been running it now for a week and my speed seems to be right with my GPS now. As for the odometer I have a correction factor of 1.0644. Very pleased with the results.

Mine was off about 6-7% before that conversion described in the Tech section. I suspect the different cog is the same PN as described above. Note that this changes the odometer: you have a choice between accurate speedo (my preference, re. speeding tickets) or accurate odo (I also kinda like correcting my gas mileage upward).

Nails, that makes sense. The last few trips I've checked the odometer was off right at 7 percent. Just for the record the ninja gear setup is the 23 tooth by 14 tooth.

My speedo is off as well, But I run a GPS that is showing actual speed with the posted speed limit. I use the odo as a fuel gauge because the fuel level and light I dont trust. I guess I choose the odo to be as correct as possible. To each their own.
