Upper peninsula trip

Post by Conrad »

My son and i got back yesterday from a great 3 day ride through a bunch of the western part of the u.p. and the porcupine mountains. Trip was great, aside from terrible bugs and a broken speedo cable!

We lived and rode for several years in da U.P. There are some great roads through it. There is a U.P. riding guide that you can find at welcome/visitor centers and businesses, that has lots of bike friendly info in it. If you plan on riding there again.

Yeah I've spent a lot of time up there over the years. Probably traveled around the u.p. more than my home state of wisconsin lol. This trip was the first time up there on bikes. Next time we're shooting for the keweenaw peninsula.

Copper Harbor is gorgeous. There is a no-maintenance-road which goes all the way to the beach at the tip... Worthwhile, but you need a 4x4 as it is rough. Three to four MPH is SPEEDING! You will cough up both kidneys!

The Harbour area yields incredible sunrises on Lake Superior, but you need to be up early for them. Fun little town to tool around in. Cheers!
