Another tire question

Post by Rich in New Jersey »

Last spring I put a Pirelli Route 66 on the rear to replace a warn out Duro tire. I'm so pleased with the performance of this tire I wanted to get one for the front now. I looked on the Denni Kirk site where I got the first one and the Route 66 doesn't come in the front tire size. I checked other sites as well to no avail. So the question is any recommendations for a front tire that would be a good mate to the rear Pirelli?
I'm thinking maybe a Shinko 777.

I ran them for a while, on my Voyager. I ran them on my other two bikes, first: loved them!

On the Voyager, they wear out rather quickly. I went through my local mechanic. I think he ordered a front tire that was just a bit wider than recommended -- did not rub, but was just a little wider than OEM spec's. It was an MT Route 66 front tire.

Having said that, I would suggest going with the Commander III tires, instead. The Pirellis do not seem to be designed for the weight of the Voyager, though they will perform very well, until they wear out. The Commander III's last longer, and they have good traction, even though they do not ignore tar snakes as well as the Pirellis did. Cheers!

I recommend using Search. Essentially, your same question was asked just 20 days ago ... and a million times before that. viewtopic.php?p=96989#p96989

First thing I did was search to see if Route 66 ever came in the front tire size, apparently it did. Sorry for asking such a radioactive question.
