I dont have a 1700 but I only use the rear speakers on my 1200 when a passenger rides, which is very seldom.

Haven't had rear speakers on my 1200 for years. At speed I couldn't hear them anyway and I rarely have a rider.

I like the rear speakers on my 2015 and would buy them again. They sound much better than the rear speakers on my '06 Goldwing. I paid $300 from Amazon but I see they are now $380. If you bought the bike new, your dealer should give you a better price. My dealer offered 20% off but it was more convenient to purchase from Amazon.

Just my personal opinion, but you must realize that at speed, you wont be able to hear them, at city speeds, they annoy other people with all their noise. May be better to just spend the 380 bucks on a decent pair of helmet headphones. I'm not so sure that the Kawasaki radio is powerful enough to power rear speakers without high percentages of distortion which will occur when you turn the volume up so you can hear the rear seat speakers. It's not like a car, where you don't have wind noise....
Another thought, keeping you're mind on the driving, without the interference of music would seem to me to be a better choice - In the 9 years that I have owned my 1700 Voyager, and in all the many miles I have traveled around the country, I have never had the radio on. In fact, I sold my CB to another Voyager owner within a year of installing it.
I've never missed it. I would rather listen to my wife on the back seat, thru our SENA wireless headsets than music.
Besides, I can just sing to myself, because my helmet radios have side-tone, and my wife can just turn her volume down if she dosen't want to hear me sing off tune, or use her cell phone, or MP3 music off of her cell phone. The SENA headsets have multiple blue tooth channels -
Anyway, this is just my own personal opinion, but I hope I have given you some food for thought -

..that's just total nonsense. I can hear mine clearly at high speeds, have even had ton turn it down. The stereo is easy to hear at any speed. I am sure the rear speakers would be a great addition.

As I said, it was just a personal opinion. I can't hear clearly the front speakers at speeds, and they are behind a fairing. He can go ahead and spend his money on whatever he likes. He asked for an opinion, I gave him one, I'm sure there are others that would be different.

Thank you, for the feed back. I'm still not sure. I would love to hear them in action sometime. Thanks again.

Re: Rear speakers, are they worth the 380.00
Hey,
Rear speakers worth the money?
It is a lot of money. The speakers no the mounts yes. I bought them installed them on the trunk and then replaced the speakers with Polk Audios and they sound great. I also replaced the front 5.25 speakers with 6.5 inch Polk Audio's using the adapters I bought from http://engineeredadapters.com/shop (well worth the money) highly recommend (this is for the newer body style voyager)
