Rear speaker relocation

Post by GrandpaDenny »

Hi guys (and gals),

I recently saw a photo of someone's VXII that had the speakers mounted to the front of the top box, but can't find it now. That looked like a great idea, and am thinking of doing it to Gertrude. I'd like to get another look at those, if whoever did that is on here (I don't remember if it was on here or on FB).

Thanks!

Any luck finding a picture of the rear speakers mounted in a different location?

Exactly. That location inhibits the opening of the top compartments on the saddlebag lids, though.

We ride two-up, 98% of the time; wife and I change positions, every two hours (we both love to nap on the back, on long trips). We bought Bluetooth Intercoms, with radio, and they can pair with our cell phones' audio for music, our Bluetooth GPS system, and other devices, as well. Love the cordless Intercom system. Learned that they will reach inside of gas stations, even behind closed doors... Ahem! :rolling:

Fun to listen in on the conversation at the register -- and kibitz! Good humor, good times. Embarrassing to suddenly laugh at the register -- for no obvious reason... "I hear voices... In my helmet!" :help:

I remember bikers (including my Dad) riding with music blasting from their bike's speakers. It might have been good for them, but it was really annoying for pedestrians and nearby cars. Not a fan of speakers on a bike.

The Intercom's speakers are right at the ear: decent quality sound, decent volume. Pedestrians and cars hear little to nothing. Best situation for everyone.

I removed my rear speakers, as well as the front speakers -- radio does not work anyway (except for the clock). By removing the rear speakers, we gained storage space on the trunk's rack -- not a huge thing, as we can only put lightweight stuff that high up on the bike, but it helps not having to fight them for space. Cheers!

Actually it doesn't. I still use them regularly.
