Gertrude Gets a Boo-boo Fixed

Post by GrandpaDenny »

89000 miles almost, and the choke cable broke. $47.01 including tax and shipping from http://www.adeptpowersports.com/. Shipping was really quick, a couple of days, but then the Post Office sent it from California on a three-week trip to Florida. It finally made it here yesterday. Replacing the cable wasn't terribly difficult. I read a post here on the AVA forums about replacing the choke cable, and the suggestion was to work from the handlebar down to the engine. So I taped the bottom end of the new cable to the top end of the old cable to fish it through. Installing the top end was easy, then pop the bottom end into place. It took a little bit of finagling to seat the outer cable at the bottom end, but finally got it popped into place. Works great.

I prelubed the inner cable with WD-40 Silicone spray. Works slicker'n snot on a doorknob now.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures, I just wanted to get it done.
