My 1300 needs very little. My 1200 needs everything. But it will be 300 pounds lighter than the 1300 when i am done..

I sold the 1300. It was easy to sell because it was in easy to restore condition..y 93 however had many busted fairing parts. I have taken many parts off, reduced the bike weight a lot. The upper fairing halves i will have to reinstall because there are too many things and a zillion wires i cant eliminate without screwing something up. I want to take pictures of some wiring thats just dangling and hopefully you guys can tell me where they go.as bad as it now looks it still starts and runs.before i pulled the igniter back, removed the airbox and battery tray i coukdnt see how to remove the carbs.the tiny phillips screws holding the clamps would be impossible to get to with everything in place. One of you said he wouldnt help me if i cut corners such as trying to use tires off the 1300 or just one throttle cable. The tires are totally different .i thought i could save money.not cut cirners. No bike i owned has more than one throttle cable . This one does and by design has to. I know now. I see the cable and how it connects to the carb linkage. Only one though.my manual shows 2 cables, connected to a box. Then just one to the linkage and the second stop at the junction box, is that right?? Please help.thank you.

XII uses four throttle cables in total, two of them going to the carb rail. Just like in the manual. See page 1-7 in the Service Manual Supplement (page 291 of 380 in the PDF file).

Four!!!! Dang.thanks for the information. One is attached to #4 carb. Is that accel or decel. The 2 cables inside the handlebar switch cover- those are accel and decel i am guessing. But then it appears there is a junction box cables go into. I see 2 cables from that. One appears to be connected to #2 carb. Then one next to it disappears down under #3 carb. I have no idea which cable is for cruise control. This bike is complicated.

Good luck working through this part of the manual.

Note that all carbs open and close together, as they must -- regardless where the throttle cable(s) attach.

the cable attached to the clevis arm at the rear of #4 carburetor is the starter cable.
The twist grip front cable is the accelerator cable which goes to a junction box under the battery at which point another cable from the cruise control actuator enters the junction box alongside of the accelerator cable. Exiting the opposite side of the junction box is the single cable which then goes to the rear, rear wheel side so to speak not the front wheel side, of the rotating throttle plate activating mechanism located between #2 and #3 carburetor.
The twist grip rear cable is the deceleration cable and goes directly to the front clevis of the rotating throttle plate activating mechanism and does NOT have any connection to the junction box located under the battery.

Heck yeah it helps.thanks a milliion. I am used to one cable.i owned 4 goldwing 1500s.i dont think they had but one cable.this is very helpfull.

What do you mean by starter cable.thats the only part that puzzled me. Not the literal cable from the starter

To expand on my terminology, when I said starter cable some folks call it the choke cable although in reality it opens the enrichening ports connected to the float bowls and thus provides an over-rich mixture for starting the engine.
This cable goes to the LH handlebar control and has that little black plastic lever one rotates inward to move the enrichening levers to a starting position and then as the engine warms up, one rotates it outward to return to a normal 15:1 ratio fuel mixture.

Yeah, it's just what Kawasaki calls what we call the choke cable. I suppose it could be short for "The cable you pull to enrich the carbs to enable cold starting" thereby, "starter cable". heh

Now i have a bigger problem. I took all the wiring out intact from the saddlebags.connectors and bulbs intact and the tailight with wires and connector intact.BUT my manual chapter 15 has wiring diagrams. The writing is almost microscopic.all in black and white.is there any place i can find colored diagrams or even black and white ones with letters large enough.with straining my eyes and a flashlight i could see gy which means grey.but till i shined a bright light on it it appeared oy.orange with a yellow stripe. I will never be able to do this at this rate.

I found a old internet post a guy posted general wire colors used on the different jap bikes.for kawasaki he said: taillight red. Brake blue. Left signal green. Right signal grey. High beam red with black stripe. Lowbeam red with yellow stripe. Ground wiire black with yellow stripe. The former owner cut a jillion wires and put small connectors on them that resemble a C shape.they would appparently go under a screw. Some existing connectors werent cut coming from the bike. When i removed the wires from the saddlebag it seems those would supply turn signals, stop and tailight, license light. Those wires are intact.but the connectors from the bike to them are largely eliminated.
