I am screwed. Whoever jacked woth my carbs before screwed up everything. The accel cable that mounts in the bottom most channel on the carbs slides into a channel, the cable slides between the halves, the barrel pops in the hole.the adjuster and lock nut fit in a bracket above it. The bottom cable is so hard to get to the guy pried it open to get the barrel out. When i tried to straighten it the outside piece broke off.

Maybe i am not screwed. I have the do it yourself cable repair kit with cable, barrels, setscrews . I think if i jb weld a barrel end wise to the existing barrel then instead of being flush it sticks past 1/8 inch. Then put setscrew into additional barrel.then the whole thing cant slip out of the hole.what do you think?

Assuming they sent you the right cables ... they are difficult to put back on and you might be giving up too soon. But dunno, I wasn't there.

Hey I have nothing but praises for my 22 years old $800 bike. She was very sad looking and in fairly crappy shape when I got her. It has been a pleasure (mostly) fixing her up and, most of all, riding her. 54,000 miles on her in November 2019 when I got her, now she's got over 93,000 and rapidly climbing.

Enjoy!

BTW Kawasakis in general seem to be known for brittle frame bolts. I found an interesting surprise one day at Gene Kapuszinski's house; one frame bolt had been replaced with a long skinny machine screw and the other was missing. These were the bolts holding on the entire rear subframe.
