How-To start bike after sitting for a few months

Post by Chris Cochran »

Ok guys, what seems to be the preferred method to start this thing after it has been sitting for a few months? Mine will turn over all day but won't try to start.

Until about noon of that all-day, the fuel pump is trying to refill the float bowls. Search (probably in the General thread) for info about installing a switch to defeat the starter. The method is to then hit the normal starter switch and listen to the fuel pump to quit ticking. Now the fuel system is pressurized and the float bowls are full. Now flip that new switch back and hit the starter. My bike starts like I parked it yesterday.
