Hello. !st Thanks to all here you helped me pick a great bike to start riding after 22 yrs.I just brought home a 1999 Voyager XII yesterday. Between riding I have started Maintenace and repairs. Got oil change with filter, fixed batt light and taillights. Have come across something I need a little help with.
1. How do I turn off the OD light?
2. Where can I get the small clips shown in the picture?
3. What does the knob, minus handle, in picture do? It is on the upper left side slightly below the radio.
I'm sure I will have more to come.
Almost forgot to ask how do I adjust idle. When cold it is about 850 which is good but once warmed up idle goes to about 1500. After cool down it goes back to 850. Thanks.

Riley;
In the photo below the brass contact having the RED arrow is what grounds the circuit for the OD light and it is supposed to do this ONLY in 5th gear when the brass tang shown in the photo contacts the corresponding OD switch brass contact.

1) If your OD light is staying on then I would suspect the Black wire which connects to the Black wire coming from the OD switch may have been shorted to ground either by a chafed/broken portion of the wire or someone has intentionally grounded the wire if the OD switch was not working correctly in order to be able to use the Cruise Control. Note: the Black wire changes to Orange/White at the first white 6 pin plastic connector-can't say why, it just does.
2) The small clips are illustrated on the "Cowling" parts diagram and have the part # of 92037-1943. They are available at any Kaw dealership but will probably have to be ordered.
3) That spindle minus a knob is for the headlight up/down adjustment.
In case you haven't already found them, all the service radio manuals can be found in the Tech Center found on the Home page of the AVA site.

Pretty sure the missing knob, if you mean what i think, is for adjusting the headlight beam up and down.

Thank you @triton28 and @conrad for your replies. Now I have some more tinkering to do. Had a good day yesterday got tailights to work right and several rattles fixed/ P O did not like to put Fastners back when working on bike. Got in some ride time as well. Triton28 I suspect you are right about od light being grounded on purpose O P is not very good at wiring.
