Just a few of my "New" 2006 Aspen Sentry

Post by Okie34 »

I thought I might post a few pics of the Aspen Sentry I bought last year through the classifieds. I'm really liking this Camper!

Image
Camping at Kaw Lake (Dam Site) near Ponca City, OK. I really liked this campground except that everytime there was a water level change, they sound a siren. 2:00 a.m., it was an interesting wake up call.

Image
Camping at Beaver Lake (Dam Site) near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This is another Corps of Engineers campground. Tucked away about a mile or so down stream of Beaver Lake Dam. Excellent Trout fishing, beautiful campground. From here I was about 100 feet away from the White River.

Image
I knew that back seat was good for something! There wasn't a whole lot of downfall to scavange. However, there is a little place just up the road of a cabinet maker that sells wood for $10 a bundle. Pretty big bundle as it took two trips per bundle! Yeah, I was sitting pretty that night.

Image
In front of Phillips Mansion (Phillips 66 fame) in Bartlesville, OK. Just another stop on the "See the USA" tour. However, Everyone know Phillips 66 Petroleum and everyone has heard of Conoco. The two merged a few years ago. Both were started right here in Oklahoma.

The weight of the trailer is nothing compared to the weight of all that wood.

I'm guessing as I haven't weighed it loaded, but I think about 425 lbs. It weighs in about 350 dry. I certainly know it's back there and in town it wallows like a pig. On the road though, I know it's there, but rides really well. Not a big impact on my m,ileage. Only in stop n go traffic does it really become noticable.

Packing List:
AC Window unit. (or a heater, depends on time of year)
15 lb Propane bottle
propane stove
propane grill
propane lantern
propane distribution T and hoses
folding camp table
lawn chair
ice chest (on tongue)
blankets.
cook ware
camp cleaning stuff.
misc.

If I had longer bungees, I would have loaded a bit more. It was fun getting out of this guy's driveway though. All Arkansas ROCK! and narrow.

If it's that noticable you should work on your loading.
I'm one of those who need a kitchen sink and on the highway I have to check the mirrors to make sure the trailers back there.

In reality, after running through Tulsa last year, it's only the starting and stopping. I have to be on the ball all the time, so everything becomes more noticable. I try to keep the heavier items on the axle and make things weight forward. The couple that owned this before me, added a tongue extension giving it about 2 more feet on the tongue length.

Obviously, this changes the center of gravity and handling dynamics. It doesn't give me any trouble in handling though, just a matter of getting used to it.
