What Brand Trailer Hitch is This?

Post by debron »

My V-XII came with this hitch. I've never seen a vertical stinger before. Kinda makes sense, I guess, but difficult to use generic hitch stuff.

I'm interested in getting or building a platform that uses the hitch to haul a small cooler so I won't be dependent on restaurants when traveling. I don't want to pull a trailer.

Who has used such a device and what was your experience. How did it affect handling, if at all?

Thanks!

What you have is a Hitchdock receiver.
I scarfed this off their website.

HitchDoc is both the Inventor and originator of the motorcycle vertical receiver hitch, and the clatter free receiver system. We design hitches that not only fit your ride, but also complement the looks.]

here's a link to their site

Thanks for the replies! It could be (and probably is) a HitchDoc hitch. Can't really tell from their website as they have only one small photo of the hitch on the bike, but they are probably the only makers of the vertical hitch.

Yes, this is what I'm talking about.

Do you have one (this one or another)? How stable is it? How does it affect handling?

I see Marvella's sells theirs for $70 while HitchDoc wants $199 for theirs! I wonder what the difference is?

I know Marvella's are powder coated steel. Don't know what material Hitchdoc makes.

I have it on my 1700 Voyager. Don't even notice it is back there unless I am carrying my gold bars to the vault. Then it is easier to loft the front end.

I wouldn't think you would carry more than 30 lbs back there. Just make sure you adjust the rear shocks for the extra weight so the bike is still riding level.

I have a tray for sale that measures 14" x 10" and has the two cotter pins if anyone is interested. I have no use for it since I pull a trailer.

How does it attach to the hitch/receiver? Do you have any photos?

Here is a picture of the rack. The ball goes thru the rack and attaches to the hitch.
