If it is like last years rally it will be a catered buffet meal in an outdoor setting. I looked up the location and it is a very nice looking marina with a campground and a pavilion and paved parking area.

Tony,as I calculate the speed and time from Toledo to St.Ignace as being about 7 hours,that means an average speed of 50 MPH.That means I better bring the VXII instead of the Cushman. :laughing: :rolling: I can maintain 50 with Cushman,but we might have to have a service truck following. :gig:

I have reserved my room and making plans to attend but will probably be without the missus this trip. I'm a little east of Fayetteville and had actually planned to leave earlier in the week and run up through Michigan (Tunnel of Trees, Mackinaw City, etc) and on over to Hurley. Might be able to ride back this way with you guys after the rally....

Yep I definitely want to check out the Legs Inn and have that penciled in as well. Appreciate the invite for the ride back and that may be an option depending on when I have to get back to work (looks like Monday). From Legs Inn, it's 1000 miles back to my place so time will be tighter on the return trip. :Cball

O.k. sounds good . Our plan is to leave Hurley Fri. morning,ride back to the legs inn area for the night. That is approx. a 335 mile ride,( and all I care to do in one day ) Sat. morning ride south along lake MI,and at some point turning east to go back to I-75.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=c ... 20distance" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was talking to NEAL on the phone here recently, and he told me that there is another "tunnel of trees"
along the bottom of lake Superior and he thought as long as were up that far north we could catch that one as well, We can talk about these topics at the rally, and keeping in mind that if we run into foul weather we likely won't go out of our way to go "sightseeing" ................Tony :-D

If you are traveling across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the Rally in Hurley be sure to stop for lunch at a place that sells pasties. If you have never had one be ready for a special treat for this "miners meal" from the past. It is probably best described as a meat pie without the pot, and will provide a nourishing and filling meal. My work used to take me to the "UP" on a fairly regular basis and we always enjoyed these for dinner at least once during our stay.

"The meat turnover was brought to Michigan's Upper Peninsula by immigrant miners from Cornwall, England, and "Yoopers" — the local population — are very opinionated about them. A pasty is a small circle of pie crust filled with meat, potatoes, onions and spices."

Our registration is in. Looking forward to our first rally. We'll be loading the XII in the truck bed and pulling the RV. Using the rally as part of a 2-3 week outing. Going up through Canada and down into the UP. See some country we haven't been through before.

We'll be using the RV as our base. We'll miss some of the action at the hotel, but should see enough of everyone.

Nice being retired. No schedule to have to adhere too.
