Removing the Fairing on a 2012 Voyager
Okay, so I bought a Hogtunes KVR Power kit which added an amp for the stereo and two new front speakers. I had the installation done by the guys at my motorcycle shop. After the first ride (in the rain of course) I couldn't tell much difference. Once I get home and put the bike in the garage I find out the speakers sound horrible! Not any louder and a lot of hissing, static, occasional pops. I'm going to take it back and have the installation checked but was want to take a look at it myself. Hogtunes provides an installation video and it is really very straightforward. I can't imagine what may be wrong. But, all that aside, I was hoping for some help taking the fairing off. All I need are some instructions (though a video would be great too).

Re: Removing the Fairing on a 2012 Voyager
Taking the fairing off is pretty straight forward.
You have to take the lowers off to get to the four fasteners under the fairing. You have to take the speaker grills off to get to the fastener under there. You have to remove the windshield.
There may be a fastener or two I am forgetting.
Then as you slide the front fairing off you need to watch for the electrical connections and start unfastening them.
If you just want to inspect the wiring, you can take out the glove boxes and the speakers and see quite a lot of the inside of the fairing.

Thanks much for the help. Its funny how straight forward it can be yet not be obvious at the same time.

Hey, I was contemplating buying the Hogtunes KVR kit. What did you find out about the hissing ? Is it worth the purchase?

Re: Removing the Fairing on a 2012 Voyager
I'm going to say that overall I am very unhappy with the hogtunes kit for my Voyager. The speakers that came with the amp were terrible and I wound up getting Polk Audio speakers. The Polk's are great but the amp (this is a replacement for the one I originally received) does not seem to be providing much more power than the original setup. This summer I am going to do some more research and plan to replace the Hogtunes amp as well. There are a couple of other strings here that address beefing up the sound system. I got the Hogtunes because it was supposedly designed for the Voyager and was a plug and play installation. My recommendation is to read what other Voyager owners have done and get the amp and speakers you feel most comfortable installing.

Thanks G1deon. That initially was my attraction with Hogtunes (plug and play). I've read others on this and other forums that went with Polk audio d521 speakers and better amp. Will continue my research.

Klockwerks markets a Kicker Audio system designed for the Voyager/Vaquero. I haven't seen any reviews as of yet, but am going to give it a shot. I'll post a review when I get it installed. I won't go as far as saying that anything would be better than oem, but I definitely want something in the way of an upgrade. Here's the link if you want to check it out. https://www.getklocked.com/shop/kicker- ... r-kawasaki
