Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.

What way should the cable be routed? One of the AVA members I talked to said to be sure the cable is outside the forks. Another member told me in a post to be sure it is inside the forks. Looking at pictures of voyagers on internet I see them done both ways. In the how to remove radio by Peter Franchi, on this site his is on the outside. Which way is the correct routing? Or does it really make that much difference?

IMHO, There are less sharp turns if you route them on the outside of the shock and less stress and the cable has a straighter route into the gear housing, as that is where they usually break ( bottom 8"). Turns are where the inner cable will rub on the outer housing.
I have put well over 100,000mi each on 3 different XII's using just 1 cable per each XII, cleaning & lubing whenever the front wheel comes off for a service. Once per year usually.
I have always used White lithium waterproof marine grease and usually put a small o-ring in the flared fitting on the bottom end of the cable to make sure no water gets in it.
Also have soaked the cable in oil as well as the casing overnight. per Carl. Many others have done this the same way and cables last many years & miles.. Do what ever works for ya.. Ride Safe..
I have been told to route the cable outside the forks, and also have been told inside is best. I played with routing it both ways on reassembly. With the cable on the outside, front wheel turned to left to the stop the cable is stretched tight around the fork tube, and I mean tight to the point of having to force it to the stop. Routed between, there is cable play turning to the stops either way.
The picture of the bike in the service manual (page 1-4) shows the cable inside (between) the forks, this is how mine is now routed.
