about to buy a 2000 model

My 93 if I had infinite money, time, and patience could be god as new but I dont. So I found a 2000 with title that has everything mine doesnt. Easiest way to go about it. The more I read about the voyager, not the new ones, those are ok if you want a dependable harley, but not for me. But with the power, torque, ujm inline 4, except for its watercooling, hydraulic valves, alternator, its too bad nothing modern compares to it. And they look like a 1985 goldwing. I hate windjammer fairings, I have owned 11 goldwings, 4 of them 1500s. The 1500 is too heavy, and you cant see the marvelous engine. I had a 2000 model was absolutely perfect and i traded it for a honda v twin. Huge mistake. I have a little v star for around town. The voyager is so dang heavy. But the gas being down low I imagine helps with center of gravity.My question: I assume parts interchange between the 93 and 2000 model. I can see no way to mount highway pegs, is there a way? Last question, do any of you own more than one voyager?

(I can see no way to mount highway pegs, is there a way? Last question, do any of you own more than one voyager?)



I have Kuryakyn highway pegs and they work great. I have 2 voyagers. A 1996 and a 2002 both in pristine condition. Better than new.

I got the 2000 model home. I thought it was grey and white but its kind of purple and white. I like the color. It is a complete bike, not missing a zillion things like my 93. the tires are flat, the valve stem is cut in front. Its like pushing a car uphill t move one of these with no air in the tires. I liik forward to between the 2 of them to get this 2000 on the road, It looks great

it will be sweet. I love the purple, and whatever nut bolt or thing I need for the 2000 I have my 93 parts bike that should have it.It sat for 3 years. I have done thisbut dread removing the gask tank to clean, use it or replace it. You gotta take off the shocks, the saddlebags, unplug wires, all kinds of stuff to remove the rear frame and get the tank out.

No you don't. Two bolts near the back of the seat, remove. Loosen shock nuts. Slide rear subframe backwards. You don't have to remove or unplug anything.

yay!!!!!! You are my hero.Thanks man. I am sure the 2000 is toast. but my 93 should be ok because it hasnt sat with gas in it for 3 years

Sometimes the manual overthinks things. I wonder if sometimes it's either to REALLY limit the chance of a mechanic to accidentally damage something, or if it's to run the clock up on the labor charges. A prime example is adjusting the steering head nut. The manual requires removing the entire fairing, frame and all. Absolutely not necessary with the handy-dandy Gene-O-Matic special Steering Head Nut Socket. Also known as a bearing retainer socket, used frequently to service electric motors and four-wheel-drive hubs. Not necessarily that size, but that kind of socket. I forget what the Official name of that type socket is. Gene Kapuszinski (holy kronk, did I spell it right???) here on the AVA makes them all special-like. I had one, never needed to use it, gave it to my mechanic buddy, figuring I could use it any time, and then he up and moved to CT. Same for the 36mm (or 34?) socket I'd bought for the clutch hub nut. That's OK, I got my revenge, I stole, er, never had the chance to return, his.... FLOURESCENT GLOW-IN-THE-DARK CABLE TIES :rolling:

your bike looks like my 2000 model. what color purple is that. I went to colorite and it calaims the light and dark 2 tone is 2 shades of grey

Technically it's "Pearl Chateau Gray" that gives it a purplish color.

this bike is so god looking with the purple and white paint, it only has 11,000 moles on it. I bought a $130 battery yesterday. It turns over great. I am not doing anymore trying to start just yet. The gas tank looks rusty inside, The start button only wirks about every 6th try and the headlight only comes on occasionally. My experience with my honda shadow is corroded connections in the handlebar connections. Its getting cold, so I might just put a battery tender on it and work on things besides mechanical for a while.It is the first bike I have owned in a long time hat I will leave stock. I have much to do but it is a good foundation. My 93 is good for parts.

I don't know where you're getting your color reference from. A 2000 is a bluish-gray called "Cosmic Gray" with "Galaxy Silver". Or perhaps it's the other way around, it's been a while since I've looked at the web site. Perhaps it's "Galaxy Gray" and "Cosmic Silver", I dunno. Most people think it's blue and white LOL.

Interesting. I just looked at the colorrite site and sure enough it lists "Pearl Chateau Gray" for the 2000 model. But as you can tell looking at the color sample, it is not the right color.

Or perhaps I'm just plain wrong. Could indeed be. I have been full of kronk before, and I just may be full of kronk now, and I'm quite sure I'll be full of kronk again at some point.

If my eyes turn brown, you'll know I'm full to the hairline. If they're still blue, I'm a quart low.

My clutch lever is limp. I took the cover off the MC. It looks like water.I will sop it out and refill and rebleed. I now have a manual. it shows the clutch bleeder valve somewhere on the block near the carbs it seems. there is the alternator cover, maybe it is hiding behind there. Please tell me where it is. Fortunately the neutral light came on so its not in gear. I have found this screw down low on a motor before, on other bikes, not up high how the picture shows.

It is behind this cover. Watch out for the 4 rubber mounting bolt dampers between this cover and the bevel gear housing it mounts on.

Reading here I keep hearing about a 10 pin connector tht causes problems. where is it, how do you fix it, what does it control?

It's near the steering head, on the left side, going into the left side fairing. It's usually cable-tied to the cable, um, hanger thingie, I don't know how to describe it. Anyway, the wires get stretched. Cut the cable tie loose, #1. Then make sure the connector is still tight. If you're not having any wierd electrical problems, then all is well (although it is still a good idea to cut the cable tie).

You’re thinking of the ignition switch harness. The 10 pin connector wires are not cable tied and are not near the steering head. The wires coming out of the fuse block go to the 10 pin connector. You can possibly see it on the left side under the faux tank but to access it the left upper fairing should be removed and of course the faux tank. I cut my 10 pin connector out on both my bikes and soldered and heat shrinked all the wires.
Never an electrical problem since.
