DFI warning on dash flashing

Post by kawager13 »

Just got the flashing light for DFI. Bike idles rough and requires high idle start even in warm weather. Rattles a bit too. Also seeing a little smoke out the pipes while trying to keep it running until warm. ????? What's up? 18,000 miles on this '84 voy 1300. Any Ideas?

Although I'm not really experienced with the 1300's at all, it sounds to me like the DFI is running rich for your bike. I would suggest to go to the AVA Tech Center under the 1300 section, and check out the two "Poor fuel mileage" articles and also the "Throttle sensor adjustment" article.

First thing you need to do is join this site.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/1300Voyager/

Go to the files folder and find the DFI codes and how to read them.
I suspect Gary is right about the TPS but you also may have a cracked coil or a bad sensor..Remember ,all the wiring and components are 25 years old.
Once your on the Yahoo site. Ask the same questions .There is a wealth of info on this site you can get nowhere else .
