Kickstand Length/Height
Installing progressives last year on my 2K resulted in a higher "stance" which logically means that the bike leans over more when on the side stand. I found a thread addressing this issue for the 1700 (by replacing the stand with a longer one from a different bike). Has anyone tried this with the XII? If so, any details would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Kickstand Length/Height
I kind of felt more secure when it was leaned over a little farther and when we had our XII we had Progressive springs on the front and Progressive Shock on the rear. I just noticed that you have a 1700 but the same theory should hold true.
We usually kept a kickstand puck with us (from the AVA or the ROK of course) to help compensate for the lean, and of course it is best to park in gear so you don't have a gust of wind blow the bike over. Of course you can very simply make a stand plate with a soft drink can. You might want to have two of various heights to adjust for the right amount of lean.
Some have welded, bolted, etc. a permanent puck onto the kickstand however you have to be careful how you do that since if done incorrectly it will hit the muffler and if too heavy it might deploy the stand in the middle of a ride!

Re: Kickstand Length/Height
Mike; thanks for the input. I'll work on finding a somewhat aesthetically pleasing "puck" of some fashion to carry in the saddle bag.

Re: Kickstand Length/Height
I'm trying to find a kickstand puck also. I found some stuff on ebay, but didn't really care for what I saw. I had one on my 91 XII, it was great, had a cord that hooked on the handle bars so you wouldn't forget it, but someone stole at the garage where it was waiting for ins. adjustor. So if any of you guys know where to get one of these, let me know. I've searched the ROK and AVA websites and found nothing.
thanks

Drill a hole in a 4" x 4" piece of plywood or OSB attach a string and your good to go.

Re: Kickstand Length/Height
I have AVA and ROK versions of kickstand supports/plates and I can give you one. I'm off of I-95, exit 191. Are you already getting e-mail from me? If so than I hope you will be able to come to the Ring Around Orlando ride. We haven't set the date but it will most likely be late August (but this time not in conjunction with Labor Day).raynchk wrote:I'm trying to find a kickstand puck also. My mistake, this is Mike Biggerstaff, President of the Sunshine State Voyagers and I am also "Guest". The forum changed a little but hopefully it will help keep out the spam out. Contact me if you want a kickstand plate (free of course). I could also bring some to a ride.Guest wrote:I have AVA and ROK versions of kickstand supports/plates and I can give you one. Re: Kickstand Length/Height
Electrical junction box cover plates work well as a "puck". They are metal (about 4"X4") and are strong enough to support the bike. Inexpensively available at any hardware store. They also work well on hot, summer day asphalt and if you can't pry it out you can drive off and leave it. I have carried them for years.

Re: Kickstand Length/Height
I used a hockey puck and about a minute with a router. You can vary the height slightly by varying the depth ot the cut.
