Hello everyone! As of today, we have 90 registered! That's going to be a great turn out!
Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.
See you all soon!

Top Rad hose removal? High idle

Post by Tonyvdb »

Ok, so I got all the correct hoses in for the cooling system. How does one get at the clamp that connects the top rad hose to the thermostat under the battery? The clamp screw is facing down so I cant reach it from where the battery tray is.

Does the clamp screw happen to have a hex head, that would allow you to use a wrench on it?

it does but its facing down and I cant reach it from below because the pipes are blocking access. Its just in the worst possible location.

Try removing the rear 2 hoses the fill hose and take the bolt out that holds the housing in place then with the clamp loosened on the radiator you should be able to pull the housing out or move it enough to get the clamp loose.
You might have to take the air filter box out or loosen it.

So got everything back together and went for a ride. No leaks :) Thanks for the tips :thanks:

Now for a new problem, it now idles to high even after it warms up it sits at around 1500rpm even after the 30min ride I took. Before I replaced the hoses it was below 1000rmp What gives?

....Hard to tell with out being there......but a throttle cable may be out of position from your repair, slightly pulling at the carbs, not letting the throttle actuator rest on the idle adjust stop.
If you turn the bars fully left and right it may also increase the rpm's even more. ?or choke cable?
something to check................ :-D

when I replaced the two hoses that go from the thermostat under the battery to the left and right side below the faux tank I noticed some cables connected to some sort of control. Is that the "actuator" I will have to look at that. Maybe the hose is putting pressure on it somehow?
Turning the steering makes no difference.
