Well, when I started working on fixing the speedo yesterday, first thing I discovered was that the speedo cable was fine inside. Looks like it had pulled loose out of the gear due to being positioned wrong. So, apparently if I'd've checked that right from the get-go, I could've saved about a hundred bucks. Meh. So I replaced the inner cable anyway, replaced the gear housing anyway, and now have a spare receiver (since I'd just replaced that a couple of months ago). In any case, I now should probably never have to dick with the speedometer again. Yay, a working speedometer! Hope to (finally) get her inspected this week, so she will FINALLY be "street legal".
In the process I accidentally discovered how easy it is to replace the brake pads (one popped loose). Less than a one banana job.
Turn signal cancel doesn't work. Haven't had her on the highway yet to try the cruise control. Last time the speedo worked, I could engage the cruise by using "accel" above 60 mph. So I still have something to work on
