Hello everyone! As of today, we have 90 registered! That's going to be a great turn out!
Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.
See you all soon!
These front lights came on this bike. I do not particularly like the bracket or the overall look. They look 'unfinished.' What do some of you have as options that look more complete. Pics please if possible. Where did you get them?
a pic as requested. These are first generation CREE'S but there are LED driving lights from many vendors nowadays. Most now are 12~15 volt, and regulated to the led, and way better at using less power than a light bulb. There are many to choose from, just GOOGLE driving lamps, and also read what others here have been using. Gene Kap.

I like the height of where the first post ones are mounted. I might have to make my own bracket to mount some higher like that, the engine guard is too low for my taste...
Mounting lights on the engine guard bars forms a triangle, similar to what you will see on a locomotive engine. The RR's did a scientific study, and they found that the triangle of lights allowed pedestrians to properly gauge the approaching speed of engines, as well as get a good idea of its distance. The same qualities can be achieved by creating a similar light triangle on a motorcycle.
The lights on the guard bars can be bright enough to light up the roadway, or they can be just for conspicuity, during the daytime. Rider's choice. Low amperage LED's are available, with outputs of 100 Lumens, to 1,800 Lumens, or higher, for use with automotive voltages (12 - 16 Volts; they are current driven, so voltage has a wide range, typically 9 to 30 Volts DC). An average 55 Watt Halogen headlight pumps out around 800 Lumens, to give you an idea of what the newer LED's are capable of. Cheers!

I get that, but I am looking for best projection down the road, LED's are great technology, i just happen to have a set of SOLTEK HID long range driving lights in my stash of parts
I have a set mounted on the same bar, under the headlight, as well as a set on the crashbars. The lowers are attached using Kuryakyn Magnum Quick Clamps. Upper lights are more piercing and the lowers are more flood/side. Cheapy wallyworld versions.

Thanks, John, but I have the under headlight mounting bar with lights. (see pic above - Aug 9th post)I just didn't care for the lights themselves. They look "unfinished." Just making a wish list, need list, and a must do list before riding. Still need to find a trustworthy mechanic for the carbs. Really only 2 or 3 Kawa shops around here.
Thanks
Waterwalker, you could send your carbs to Carl Leo for repair/exchange. They would need to be tweaked, just a bit, I believe, after installation. I'd suggest contacting Carl for details, as I have not done it myself. Cheers!
You won't likely be able to use those simply because it looks like they would be too much a load on your alternator (do you know what the wattage is). LED are a much better option or some very small 15watt max halogens
