Merry Christmas – AVA Dues Reduced to $20!

Merry Christmas – AVA Dues Reduced to $20!

Due to the high costs of producing a paper edition of the Voyager’s Voice magazine the AVA Board has voted to produce the Voice in PDF format for everyone and distribute it via email. This will save us $1,200 - $1,500 per issue. We are passing the savings on to the membership by reducing the dues to only $20/year. This is for all members, not only US members. Canadian and overseas members will also pay only $20! Here’s how it was explained by AVA Chairman Mike McGee in the current issue of the Voyager’s Voice:
Mike McGee wrote:We explained at the rally the cost of the Voyager’s Voice to print and the postage costs. With the number of members hovering just under 300 in the last year, including advertising revenue, we are not producing the income to sustain the printing and postage. We will not have the funds to produce two more printed issues through the end of the year. We are sorry. Because of this, the Board has voted unanimously to change the Voyager’s Voice to an electronic format. This Voyager’s Voice will be the last printed issue. We are not pleased to do this, but it is the only viable alternative for the American Voyager Association.

What does that mean to you, the member? Actually, some good things we hope.

1. Because we will not have to encumber the cost of printing and postage, most of our high expenses will go away.
2. Because of changing to an electronic format, we are not limited because of cost, to the size of the printed Voyager’s Voice and can print more photos and make the issues larger.
3. Because of the reduced cost of the yearly operations (minus six printed magazines), we have also voted unanimously to lower the annual dues to $20.00 a year. This was Ron Riggs proposal and was actually a good idea. We still have to pay for the website, domain name, AMA sanctions, incorporation, and office supply costs for new members.
4. Because of the electronic format, Canadian and other international members will no longer have to pay an increased annual membership fee to cover the additional mailing costs. Canadian and all international members will also be $20.00.
5. With the money saved from the reduced operational costs, we hope to print an annual rally issue each year as we have done in the past.
Another benefit of the pdf format is that the entire issue will be in full color!

Now that the dues are so affordable, JOIN NOW! Go here to join the AVA:

By the way, as an AVA member you still get the $10 discount for ROK membership (a must-have for the towing assistance!) so your net AVA dues are really only $10!

How often is VV produced? I have only received 2, March/April and July/August. Also, when are dues due? Does membership go from January to December?

Merry Christmas.

Wayne, your membership dues runs a year from when you joined. It would be easier if it was Jan-Dec but it's not, so it changes from day to day with each member.

And Merry Christmas to you also!

Wayne, there were 5 issues produced in 2014. Contact Don Medina at bluemedina@sbcglobal.net to get your missing issues. Scott is correct, membership expires annually the month you joined. Bronson usually contacts members before their membership expires. If you have a question about your membership, contact Bronson at bronson7020@att.net.

Wayne

You were sent this latest issue of the Voyagers Voice. They were mailed a week ago Saturday. If you haven't received it in a few day email me. I'm sure because I check to make sure all of the mailing labels match the mailing roster. Your name is on the mailing roster.

My email bluemedina@sbcglobal.net

Since I have your attention how about some pictures of you and your motorcycle. Maybe a short bio, trying to get as many members showcased in the Voyagers Voice. Remember the Voyagers Voice is about the members.

Is it possible to pay your dues in advance? For example, if my membership is not due to expire until August, can I pay in February and have that carry me through the next year?

Worth it???? YES!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :Cball :thanks:
This year alone in savings has been exceedingly great:
Driveshaft: with Carls help, probably saved over $600 (and put on Progressives with the savings);
Oil Pan: Probably another $600 (maybe more);
ROK membership: No Charge Tow (only a member because of the AVA cuing me in on them, then saving me $10) of over an hour away from home.

Couldn't make the last two Rallys because of too far from where work required me to be, so not enough time to get there. But Estes Park is only a few hours from that same place, so can do this year. Looking forward to it. :clap:

Good To Know. Thank You :clap:

I paid $107 for 3 years, after the Kanab Rally, how do I find out when it's time to renew again at the new rate? :thanks:

P.s. 2015 is off to a great start. Been getting in lots of great rides this year. Today, it was at least 70 near the beaches. :woohoo:

Thanks Ron for catching my post; and for the 411. The site looks great, and I love how snappy the pages have been coming up: Great job. :thmup:

I spent some time today polishing and servicing the bike after a nice trip up and down Hwy 1 Coastside. I still had road grime from the x country '14 Rally with you guys. The Bike cleaned up quickly, and ready for our club's event in a couple of weeks.
