Sunshine State Voyagers welcome Carl Leo to Florida

Post by gearheadfla »

The Sunshine State Voyagers from Miami to Jacksonville gathered in Daytona today to give Mr. and Mrs. Leo a welcome to the Sunshine State today. Lori and I left home this morning at 6am to meet up with Mike Biggerstaff and Mike McGee (who left his house at 4am) in Melbourne for Breakfast with a couple of the Green Knights also. Then we headed up US1 to Daytona getting to Carl's house around 10:45 am. where we found a yard full of Voyagers already there.

How do you new neighbors like you now Carl ? lol
I counted 9 XII's, 1 1700, 1 Wing 2 other Hondas and a scooter there.

No, we didn't make Mike park his Wing down the road, there was some men at Carl's house doing some work and their van was between Mike and the rest of us for awhile, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Image
We had a great time and even learned a few things today, Mr. and Mrs. Leo are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

Even his dogs was glad to see us and tell a couple of stories.

After chewing the fat for awhile we rode the Daytona loop and ended up at Destination Daytona and TORE UP some BBQ.
From there we all headed back home and Carl went to take care of his growing Honey Do list that a new home owner has. Lori and I got back home about 7pm with just a tick under 400 miles on the clock for the day. I want to give a BIG shout out to the Sunshine State Voyagers for making today a day that we will all remember. I also want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Leo for having us and look forward to seeing them again.

Hi Jim

We are glad that you and Lori made it back safe. That was a nice ride today; both getting up to see Carl and riding on "The Loop".

Those are some great pictures! That was pretty much the way it was. That picture of Carl sitting on the trailer with all us guys around is a real classic photo. By the way Jim is modest; it was Jim that was the catalyst of this event.

There will indeed be some great adventures in the future. If anyone has plans to be in Florida anyone wants to get some great winter riding in than contact Jim or myself. We will help you find a rental bike or help store your trailer, help you find a place to stay and you can enjoy some time with us.

Our tentative future events include:

Cracker Christmas: http://www.nbbd.com/godo/FortChristmas/

Either the January or February event at the Florida Flywheelers: http://www.floridaflywheelers.org/events.html

Of course we will all be at the Riders Of Kawasaki hospitality area for Daytona Bike Week. (no link provided, too easy to look up)

Leesburg Bikefest seems to get the most of us together: http://www.leesburgbikefest.com

There might be a spontaneous event in between the events posted above and of course we will let all of you know.

Ride Safe!
Mike and Marcia Biggerstaff

Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything. Charles Kuralt

Sounds like a fun time. I purchased my first motorcycle while living in Ormand Beach and rode through Tomoka State Park and what is now known as the loop, many many times. Since they constitute the only curvy roads in the area, all of us young riders had to ride them on our way to or from the beach.
