Should I do an exorcism

Post by Gator Mike »

It seems every time I fix something some other little thing is wrong. :gmad: Took a nice ride yestarday-bike ran great- listen to some tunes on the headset but when I switched to speakers not a sound. The rear controls were taken off years ago so looks like I'm back to troubleshooting. I rarely use the speakers so it will be far down on the bucket list but I am considering an exorcism. :Cball ......Gator Mike

Maybe the relay in your HS button is stuck? Speakers no longer grounded? :hmm:

Yes! well try this first---open tape door, stick a finger in and up behind HS button and pull to you then push HS button and see if that returns it to speakers. I have found the board to be week in there and when the button is pushed it just bends circuit board instead of clicking button.

Thanks for the tips guys. Tried both the tape door trick and the mute but no help. Michael I'm hoping it's not a relay as I'm not into pulling the radio while the head sets work. I'm thinking it's something I did when all the tupper ware was taken off because it worked great before. When I get the time, guess I'll be taken off more tupper ware :bat: Oh well, thank God for head sets........Gator Mike

Check he 7.5 amp red blade fuse on the power amp under the Cruise control actuator under the right fairing.
Looks like a klondike bar sandwiched between two black plastic trays..

If its ok, then while the radio is on and the HS block is NOT lit, tap the power amp hard with a screwdriver and hammer.. They go cold solder on about 94 joints.. Normally one side or the other.. rarely both.. but if it comes back on, there's yer prob.. Also make sure the long cable from the radio to the power amp hasnt drifted apart.. (Blue collar sometimes visible)

cheers..

Finally got a chance to look at the problem yestarday. As I suspected I found that I left a plug disconnected when I put he motor back in. I had to disconnect the fader plug for acess to something and neglected to reconnect it. Thanks for the ideas and Pete thanks for your input, I learned where the amp and another fuse were located.............Gator Mike
