There's no point in leaving the stock audio system on my bike, since the Yaesu does what the Clarion does...but MORE!
So I used my "spare" dash and radio hole to figure out "how" this was going to work?
So, this is what I have come up with so far. The radio is to small to take up the entire slot, so I needed a "cover", so anyone coming up to the bike couldn't just, reach in there! After a tip from a member here about access to the speedo cable through the headlight hole, I came up with this plastic cover design, with the nut on the backside.
I still have to weld up my spare antenna mount to put the Larsen 2/70 coil 12" higher than the stock antenna base, then, pull everything apart!
Even having said this, i ran into a friend in town yesterday, he has an '09 KLR 650 and he own/operates 6 repeaters in the area, but he said he wants to mount a dual band radio on his KLR. I may be giving up my FTM-10SR for an FTM-10R, because I don't need to worry about space on the Voyager, like he does on the KLR.
But, will see. Sooooooooo...this is what I've got so far.
The face is just "resting" on that rag and would be "mounted" on the plastic cover once in place...obviously, since the gauge cluster of course goes there!?
