New AVA Logo

Post by debron »

The AVA Board of Directors have adopted a new logo for the American Voyager Association. [See it at the top of this page!] This effort was headed by board member Ken Knight with the assistance of a professional graphic artist who graciously volunteered her services. The new logo represents the AVA moving forward into the 21st century. The old Voyager XII was replaced by the current Voyager 1700. The slogan in the center expresses our sentiment: "Three Generations, One Family."

The new logo is cleaner and more professional looking. I'm sure your first response will be that it needs more/additional color! :-? That was my first impression also! But as I thought it through and spent some time with the new logo it began to grow on me. The board did look at other options with more colors including the red and blue of the original logo but those colors just didn't work with the Kawi green. Keep in mind that the logo is used in many venues not just on this website and forum -- patches, pin, stickers, t-shirts, hats, etc. and the two-color logo is easier and less expensive to reproduce.

Because the green the new logo clashed with the old green in use throughout the website, I had to update the website and forum. While I was at it I updated some other aspects of the forum, most of which you won't notice, at least consciously. Additionally (totally unrelated to the new logo,) we have a brand new classified ad system going live in the next day or two with many new features. And watch for exciting new changes coming in 2015!

Stay tuned!

I like it.Filling in the AVA from the original draft makes a big diffence. It will also help keep down the cost over the 6 or 7 colors I originally dreamed of.

Nice work. It all makes good sense. Glad to see the organization trying to update itself, and stay relevant to the changes, as well as the past. Nice work all around. Cheers!

I liked it when we were working on the different designs. But seeing it on the forum I think that Ken and his helpers did a fantastic job.

Must add our accolades to the comments. The design is new and different yet still maintaining the original AVA. Even if it is different I do not recognize any changes.
Great job, Ken.

By the way, if anything looks weird, for example the greens don't match, hit your browser's "refresh" button. It might be displaying stored (cached) pages, graphics, etc. One of my computers was doing that and the refresh button did the trick. The refresh button is the one that looks like an arrow twisted into a 3/4 circle.

I can live with those colors very easily and the small icon changes work perfectly as well. A+ on the efforts and time invested to the board.
