On my way home from the rally I had a problem with it.
When I filled the gas tank and started down the road it
says full then it would go to 190 miles and back to full
then 174 and all the way home it would jump up and down.
The gas gauge worked like it should but when it got down
to a quarter of a tank mileage would say different mileage.
When I stopped for gas it only took 3 gallons each time.
Has any one have their mileage to empty jump back and forth?

Hey Bronson. Not knowing the software algorithms used in the Voyager system, this is my best guess about how the miles range is being calculated. It is an instantaneous solution based on everything staying the same. In other words, if you continue to maintain the same speed, on the same terrain, with the same throttle position, you will be able to go X miles before empty.Bronson wrote:On my way home from the rally I had a problem with it.

As soon as you provide more throttle to climb a hill at the same speed, the algorithm will provide a solution that is X minus Y miles before empty because you are using more fuel to climb that hill.
They may have included some buffering or filtering in the algorithm to keep it solution from jumping all over the place, but that is the basic way these range to empty displays work.
I never look at them and consider them a distraction.
Same goes for the Average fuel economy. I find that the accuracy grows if you don't reset it every time you fill up. Over 10 tanks it is pretty accurate. From tank to tank, not much.

I gave up on that thing. When the gas LIGHT comes on, I start thinking about dumping that extra gallon in that I carry on the rear rack.
Agree with that last sentence above about averaging over 10 tanks.....
Ran out of gas once on this trike, never again! Pushing 1200 pounds in 90+degree heat? Nope, ain't gonna happen.
