Replacement radio antenna
Some %#*% liked my antenna so much they unscrewed it and left.
Has anyone replaced their radio antenna with something other than OEM?

Re: Replacement radio antenna
Joe, see the Voyager 1700 page in the AVA Tech Center on the AVA website. Scroll down to "Radio Antenna Option."

Re: Replacement radio antenna
I have a 2012 Vulcan voyager my antenna came off during a ride and thru some research this seems to be a common problem. The dealer replaced it at no cost and suggested that I use the red lock tight. I thought at first I would have to pay for it myself so I went to Canadian tire and bought a replacement for 15.00 verses the 100.00 at the dealers. It worked very well

Re: Replacement radio antenna
I followed the suggestion as well, and bought a generic antenna at O'Reilley's. With the bolt, it works great! Thanks to all for their help!

Re: Replacement radio antenna
We had a NorCal Voyagers Club member that had the same thing happen in 2009, Kawasaki replaced it free of charge. The deal told the member about using locktite. When I got my 2012 I remembered about the Antenna problem so I put a lock washer under the Antenna. That was three years ago and no problems.
So to all new Voyager Owners, remove the radio antenna and reinstall with either locktite or lock washer.

Re: Replacement radio antenna
I have also mysteriously lost my radio antenna for a 2012 Voyager 1700. Replacement at dealer was approx. $120.00. From another post's recommendation I went to Autozone and attempted to find a universal replacement antenna. The female socket on the bike accepts a metric M6mm screw and the female socket on the replacement antenna also accepts a M6mm screw. This is difficult to find in the universal antenna choices because the threads on the universal screws in various brands are all different sizes. The screw in replacement kit #AW-RMRM (~$10.00) had M6mm on both sides. I ended up purchasing a universal shorty 16" Carbon fiber look replacement mast #AWRMCF2 for $12.00 and used the screw and rubber gasket from the previous kit for a nice tight replacement. I imagine you could find the M6mm screw in a box store but for the extra $10 bucks it wasn't worth the aggravation. Radio reception is great. I would agree to use either a lock washer or rubber gasket to keep the tension on the screw to avoid future loss.
