Have Trailer need Hitch

Post by alabama498 »

I recently became the owner of a pull behind trailer. I am now in search of a hitch for my bike. I have a 2014 voyager. I have looked into the hidden hitch from Hitch Doc but have been told that it will not fit on my bike with the tire that is on it. The tire is a Michelin commander II 180/65 B16. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the rally in June and would like to pull it up there.

Marvellas offers a hitch for the 1700.

Thanks for the reply Lucasind. I know that marvellas is a sponsor of the AVA and they are very close to where I live. I have seen the marvellas hitch and was not impressed with them at all. They are not very sturdy and move alot. The mechanic I take my bike to said he would never sell one because they are flimsy. I am in the patriot guards and I plan to get a flag holder for the hitch and it appears as though it would rip the thing right off. I have seen hitches made by mchitch.us and they are very sturdy and don't look too bad but I would like to find out what other voyager owners have. Do you have a marvellas and how does it work for you? Thanks again for your response.

I have a Duane Ash trailer hitch. Which was patterned after the Marvella's trailer hitch. I installed the trailer hitch on my 2012 Voyager 1700 in April of 2012. I pull a 2005 Time Out trailer, and will be pulling it to the AVA International Rally.

So it might not look robust but it is. Even while cornering hard I've never felt the hitch flex.

I have seen the marvellas hitches at the rally and I was quite impressed. It looks to be very well made and stable. the one that I had seen previous must not have been installed correctly and that may be the reason that it moved around. Good job Marv for designing a well made hitch for the 1700.
