Hello everyone! As of today, we have 90 registered! That's going to be a great turn out!
Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.
See you all soon!

Loss of power after 2000 rpm

Post by billgillin »

Hi all. I've been blessed to be riding a 94 with just over 55k since 2002. I love the bike and have made some improvements including switching to full LED, mod'ed radio and phone holder and charger. However I'm writing now with an engine problem. The bike was running fine and then loss of power on throttle up. A slow steady add power gets me to about 55mph but any quick power boogs the bike down. I can hear some misses at idle but the bike starts right up and idles fine except for a random slight miss. I replaced some faulty plug boots but that didn't fix it. Does this sound like fuel or fire? Any help will be appreciated.

Fuel, for my money.
More specifically, I would say the fuel filter is dirty.
Just a guess.

Check for a hole or crack in the hose going to the ecm module. That's your spark advance .

Thank you both for the good info. The fuel filter is fairly new but I'll check fuel flow to the carbs. I have been leaning towards a fire issue. Spark advance is a good scenario to check. Now to find the ECM and hose... lol. Has anyone had this problem?

Look under the faux tank cover on top of the air cleaner box cover on the right hand side as you are sitting on the motorcycle.

You will see the ignitor with two wiring harnesses plugged in and a vacuum line which goes into a check valve and then I believe it ends up at a vacuum port on the left most carburetor.
