My rear wiring harness was hacked into pretty good by a previous owner which would cause lights to flicker or not work at all.
After replacing all the bad wiring in the back I still had an issue where I had no brake lights. Swapping around the brake light relay with the main relay above the headlight gave me brake lights again, but now my cruise control would not come on.
Using the information in the Dollar4Dollar section, I went to O'Reilly's near my house and they cross referenced the Toyota relay that is shown as a replacement for the headlight relay. I checked all the relays and they all were the same on the bike, so I knew that I should be able to use that same part number for my brake light relay.
After getting home I noticed the diagram of operation on the side of the relay had different pin numbers from the original. So I wondered if I would have a problem. After studying the connection diagram I saw while the pin numbering was different, the overall operation of the relay would be the same. Here are pictures of both relays with the original being on the left and the new one on the right. As inexpensive as the relay is ($13), it is worth keeping an extra just in case.
