This is epic!
So I ordered some new gaskets for my '86 carbs. I live in Washington state. As of yesterday, the tracking stated that the package was still in Oak Grove, Illinois (and had been for several days). This morning I check the tracking again and lo and behold the thing was sent by USPS to San Juan, Puerto Rico. My zip code is 98375 while San Juan is 00936.
Doubtful that it'll be delivered to me on time tomorrow, huh?

Both the zip codes do have a 9 and a 3
,the way some of our repair parts come in,it seems that is all the closer manufacturing in order to pass inspection have to be some cases

Yes when I order something from Amazon , EBay or anyone I dread it when it says USPS tracking number. FedEx and UPS know how to track a package . USPS doesn’t have a clue.
And when it says estimate delivery 2 months away with a weird tracking number you know it’s on a slow boat from China.

The items I had ordered directly before this package (K&L float valves) were transported by UPS. I tracked the package from California to the UPS facility in Tacoma. They promptly lost it.
It took them about a week but they finally admitted they lost it. And NOW USPS goes and does THIS!

Yeah, another example of the fine USPS "improvements" since this new postmaster took over. They're still better than FedEx IMO.

Re: This is epic!
Years ago, my friend was in hospital (bike related) and would be there quite some time, so I sent him from (Louisiana) to Manchester UK a load of bike magazines to keep him not so bored, shipping was $35 with insurance.
A month had gone by, no delivery! I went to the post office with my tracking / insurance card, they located it in Brazil!!!!!! then here's the kicker, so I said I valued the magazines at $100, so where do I file my claim? response........... Once any package leaves US land, its no longer insured!! WOOOOOW!!! hence I never ship anything back home, I take it......

I did not know that about something only being insured if it stays in the US.
Did he ever get the magazines?

Well, my package actually DID show up here today. Finally. So, tomorrow I shall be back at the task of putting them back together.
