Removing the Low Fuel light sendin unit

Post by DaveC »

I need to replace the sending unit. I pulled the assembly up but I can not figure out how to replace that thermocouple! It looks like it is part of the fuel level sending unit. In fact I was trying to figure out how to get the whole shooting match out of that little hole :hmm:
Any one done this without destroying the sensors and resistor floats and other delicate items?

BTW on Bike Bandit it is listed as "fuel gauge" in the fuel and air section. They put an $85.00 price tag on it. You know I can just go with the dash indicator and a mileage check!

I've had mine out a couple of times. I just had to go slowly and tilt it some when bringing it out through the hole. If it is badly bent, that may be the cause that you can't get it out. You can bend the float arm some without damage.
